Emma Fern Curtis

Oil Painter

 

Born in 1991, Emma Fern Curtis hails from Washington state in the U.S. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in oil painting, which she earned from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. Post-graduation, she embarked on a three-year intensive journey at Georgetown Atelier, under the guidance of the esteemed educator and artist, Tenaya Sims, delving into classical drawing and oil painting.

Upon completing her Atelier program, Emma continued her artistic journey at Georgetown Atelier, where she served as the Administrator and Development Director for two years. Subsequently, she ventured into a life of exploration and inspiration, residing and traveling extensively abroad, immersing herself in diverse cultures and landscapes.

Emma made history as the inaugural artist-in-residence for the Denali Foundation at Sagarmatha Next. Her residency, which spanned from May 15 through June 30, 2022, bore witness to the creation of several remarkable oil paintings, inspired by the local landscape and architecture. During her stay, Emma also devoted time to visiting local schools, imparting fundamental color theory and drawing techniques to children, and generously providing them with art supplies donated by the Denali Foundation.
